Blower Oil

After extensive life testing on rotary lobe blowers, Dreser ROOTS™  introduced a special blend, high-temperature, (polyalphaolefin based) synthetic lubricating oil for ROOTS™  Blowers and Vacuum Pumps in 1990.

A Complete Solution

The AIRnet compressed air piping system is a complete solution from source to production thanks to its high quality aluminium pipes, its range of aluminum and polymer fittings from Ø20 - 80 mm (¾” - 3”) and variety of specialized tools, brackets and bushing.

Design of the main ring and distribution lines

The main ring is often the main skeleton of a network. This loop is located close to the main point of use, with drop legs connecting the main ring to your point of use, ensuring a minimal pressure drop. Using a main ring, the pressure drop is twice as low as when using a straight distribution line of the same length. In general, the main ring’s diameter is based on the capacity of all compressors connected to the network, and should take possible future extensions into account.

A distribution line is usually preferred to connect the main ring to a single point of use which is isolated in a remote location. The diameter of the distribution line should be based on the air demand at this specific point of use.

The Hoffman® Revolution, a new line of high speed centrifugal blowers using break-through technologies, is designed as the world’s most advanced energy management blower system. The first in this family of blowers, the R-200 and R-300 are capable of flows from 2,500–8,500 CFM and pressures from 3–15 PSIG.

The Revolution takes performance and power savings to new heights of effciency, reliability and control. Designed, built and tested in the United States, this breakthrough high speed centrifugal blower incorporates an infinite life cycle magnetic bearing driven by a permanent synchronous magnetic motor (PMSM) with a variable frequency drive (VFD).

The ROOTS™ RAM™-DPJ WHISPAIR™ rotary blower has an exclusive discharge jet plenum design which allows cool, pressurized system air to flow into the cylinder. This unique design permits operation at high pressure levels with a single stage unit. The RAM high pressure blower is designed for continuous operation at discharge pressures up to 30 psig. It has no valves, vanes or Teflon rings. Clean, dry discharge air or gas provides usable heat for your process.

Operating Principle

Incoming air is trapped between the impellers. Simultaneously, pressurized air is being discharged. As the upper impeller passes the jet plenum, cooled, pressurized air flows into the space between the impeller and cylinder. This cools the trapped air, helps control thermal growth and allows higher discharge pressures.The trapped air is then moved into the discharge flange (left). Backflow is reduced, resulting in lower operating noise level and reduced shock loading on the impellers.


RCS-J WHISPAIR™ rotary blowers are heavy-duty units designed with integral-shaft ductile iron impellers having an involutes profile. WHISPAIR blowers reduce noise and power loss by utilizing an exclusive wraparound plenum and proprietary WHISPAIR jet to control pressure equalization – feeding back flow in the direction of impeller movement, thereby aiding rotation. The head plates, gear cover, drive end cover and rigid, one-piece casing are gray iron. Carburized and ground alloy steel spur timing gears are taper mounted on the shafts, secured with a locknut. Cylindrical roller bearings are used. Piston rings reduce air leakage through the shaft openings in the head plates, and lip-type oil seal prevent lubricant from entering the air chamber. The RCS-J incorporates thrust control, with splash oil lubrication at both ends of the blower. Frame sizes 715J and 721J are designed with detachable rugged steel mounting feet that permit in-field adaptability to either vertical or horizontal installation requirements.

RCS Whispair units are available with an inlet spray nozzle and seal water flow meter for water injection.  This feature cools the vacuum unit to enable it to reach deeper vacuum.
